Mass Layoff Statistics and Longitudinal Tracking System A web based application that is the result of a Federal-State initiative that examines the long‐term earnings consequences of layoffs by tracking the wages of UI claimants. Characteristics of individuals are reported using linkages among the Social Security Numbers within each of the relevant data sources. Business establishment characteristics are reported using linkages among employer identification numbers, industry codes and county geographic codes. The combination of claimant demographic and wage record data with establishment and industry data allows for the analysis and reporting of employment and wage outcomes of initial claimants for unemployment insurance by selected claimant, establishment and industry. This application is currently being evaluated by numerous pilot”state governments.

BLS-Wage Records A state wage record analysis system developed under the authority of the North Carolina Employment Security Commission. This system provides database management and analytical capability for producing a variety of standardized tables, charts, maps, and data exports using wage records and other administrative data. The application addresses turnover, job tenure, multiple job holders and wage distributions. The system was designed to use 10 years of quarterly North Carolina wage records as well as several other data sets matched to the wage files. The administrative data sets include wage records, unemployment insurance claimants, new hires reports and ES-202 business data. The system is designed to use the administrative records available in a particular state. The system architecture uses Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) which provides highly flexible capabilities for standard and dynamic reporting.

Career Readiness Certificates Employers are increasingly concerned with ensuring that both potential and incumbent employees have the skills necessary to thrive in today's workplace. More than 80 percent of all jobs are projected to require skills beyond those earned in high school by 2010. For an executive contemplating moving a business to North Carolina, expanding an existing company or even just sustaining operations in a fiercely competitive environment, the skill level of the available workforce is often a deciding factor. As a result, both job seekers and incumbent workers are increasingly called upon to demonstrate a more advanced set of skills or at least the ability to develop those skills through on-the-job training. North Carolina's Career Readiness Certification (CRC) system is designed to meet the needs of both employers and job seekers in this transitioning economy.  For employers, the CRC offers a reliable means of determining whether a potential employee has the necessary literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills to be job ready.” www.crcnc.com
